~ In My Kitchen Window ~

The lovely blossoms of spring are all around us now & I find I cannot leave them outdoors. I love to cut my flowers & place them in little creamers & vases & fill my kitchen window sill with there beauty & fragrance.

When we did a bit of remodeling in our kitchen approximately 5 years ago, I replaced my kitchen window with one that was similar to a garden window, just so I would have a deep ledge to sit pretty things that make me happy. Of course, usually mine is filled with my vintage hand painted creamers & tea cups filled with flowers either from my yard or ones that I rescue from imminent demise in the trash from my flower shop.

I encourage you, if you have beauty growing in your yard, to cut them & bring them in for your enjoyment. Fill some of your treasured trinkets with them, enjoy their beauty & the happiness I know they will bring you.

Beautiful daffodils planted by my husband's grandparents many, many years ago still bloom every spring. It reminds us of the love they shared in our home before us.

Ahh Spring.......this particular daffodil has a lovely little fragrance. I'm not sure of the variety, they too were planted by my husband's grandparents long before we moved into their home.

Love, love, love hyacinth...how does such an intoxicating aroma come from such a small bloom? They are also a gift to us from the grandparents.

What's in your kitchen window?

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
