"Rose Wednesday" ~ Sweetheart Special...Latin Lady Roses ~

Wednesday is not just Hump Day.....it is also Rose Wednesday...hosted by Jan & Tom at Rose Haven.

Let me introduce you to my friend, known as....the "Latin Lady" this is one of the premiere roses you will find at White Iris Designs this Valentine's Day. It is a red rose with a hint of pink to it. The back of the petals are white with a slight pink cast to them. This rose does have a slight scent & will last in a vase, if properly cared for, about 7 days. A beautiful alternative to the classic red rose.

We are offering a dozen roses (any color) European style wrapped in Valentine's tissue & tied with a ribbon, for $29. 95. We call it our..... "Sweetheart Special" & is a cash & carry item only.

Below you will see the progression of how this special is put together. Please note that during the photographing of this blog post, one rose met it's demise....I broke it's stem, therefore YES I know there are only 11 roses, when there should be 12. (sigh...moment of silence)

The materials used: 12 Roses of your choice, Cleopatra Leather Leaf, Accent flower of your choice ( Here I chose lavender Hybrid Misty Blue)

First I clean all foliage that will fall below the water level, to prevent bacteria from growing in the water. Next all thorns are stripped from the stems & all bruised petals are removed. This is where I usually recount all of the roses just to make sure that there are in fact 1 dozen ...Yep...still only 11 LOL LOL

The roses are gathered by hand to resemble a bridal bouquet & the Misty Blue is added. Then I place the greenery around the bouquet.

I add a chenille stem to tie the bouquet together, so that when you receive them, you will be able to re cut the stems & place them in your favorite vase. That way the bouquet will retain the shape and look fabulous in your vase.

The bouquet is laid on a piece of Valentine tissue paper & cellophane, wrapped & tied with a shear ribbon.

Floral preservative is stapled to the bouquet wrapper for you to add to your vase of water to help preserve the vase life of your roses.

Here is an example of what your bouquet can look like after you receive them. Remove from wrapper, add floral preservative to vase of water, re cut stems (on an angle) place in vase on table for romantic dinner for 2. No fuss, no mess & ..........Viola....BEAUTIFUL!!

ENJOY!!!

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
