"Rose Wednesday" ~ Sahara Blush Rose ~

Rose Wednesday is hosted by Jan & Tom's Rose Haven it is a day set aside for all things rosey! Their blog has the full list of those who have stopped to smell the roses! Give them all a visit & leave a comment.

My rose offering for today is the Sahara Blush rose. It is by far my favorite of the blush colored roses. I love the fact that no two are the same shade. They come in packages of 25 & can range from a cream, to champagne, to peachy blush to a pale pink blush. They are so versatile to use, especially in wedding work. You must beware of the stems which are some of the thorniest I have ever encountered. To use in Bridal bouquets, they must be completely stripped of their thorns.

Shown above in a massed arrangement of all Sahara Blush roses in a sage green vase.

This rose has a fairly high petal count with all blooms opening fully just as an old fashioned garden rose. They remind me of an antique Victorian Rose in that it has that velvety look to the petals & the coloring of vintage lace. They also have a lovely fragrance, which is a nice surprise. Since most roses do not have any fragrance at all anymore.

Below are some examples of the Sahara Blush rose used with different color palettes. Notice how well it blends with each color palette, almost taking on the hue of the complimentary color.

Shown here in a Bridal bouquet with red & sage green for a very romantic look.

Here it is in another Bridal bouquet with dusty lavender & shades of green.

It looks great with the shades of pale buttercream yellow, peach, & pale pink.

It looks great with the deep coral of this Amsterdand rose. Another of my favorites, which I will post on it's own another Wednesday.

The sahara blush rose is beautiful Tammy! I love that it has a fragrance. I think my favorite is the sterling rose...just because of it's intense fragrance.

I am a pink kinda gal but when it comes to roses, I lean toward the more subtle tones of pink. My favorite arrangement of these is the 3rd one with the buttercream.
I do love coral or sonya color roses but yellow is my favorite.

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
