~Rose Wednesday~ Circus Roses

This is a new spot that I am joining for the first time today, it is Rose Wednesday hosted by Jan & Tom at Jan & Tom's Rose Haven. If you are interested in information in participating or would like to see other posts featuring roses today, visit Jan & Tom's blog.

Circus Roses

This was designed to sit on the front counter in a chiropractor's office.

What I thought I might do on Wednesdays, when I can, is to post information about different rose varieties that are available from your florist that you might not be aware of. There are so many beautiful colors that are out there, but many of the florists only carry the well known varieties. At White Iris Designs, I love to offer what is new & unique to my customers. When the flower truck pulls into the parking lot of the shop I cannot wait to see what new roses he might have. I will always be the first one to try one of the new varieties. I love to be sort of the "guinea pig", gathering information for the flower guy, so he knows what to tell his other customers about how the particular rose will perform.

I use this opportunity to see how long they last (known as "vase life"), how high the petal count is (that is how many petals are in the bloom of one rose), do they have a scent, and in general determine if it is a variety that I should offer to customers & if it is a variety that the flower vendor should continue to order.

So for today, on my very first Rose Wednesday post, I give you "CIRCUS ROSE."
Here is what I know about this roses, & know that this is just this flower lady's opionion.

Circus is a vibrant orange with a darker orangish red edge, they have wonderful vase life, usually lasting for at least 7-10 days. Please note that the life of a rose in a vase is determined not only by the variety characteristics, but by the proper handling & processing of the flowers by your florist.
This rose really doesn't have much of a scent, unfortunately, but makes up for it in it's beauty. It has a very high petal count & opens completely to reveal one of the most beautiful rose displays offered by florist roses. The petals, as you can see curl backwards like garden roses, which is one of my favorite aspects of a rose. It is one of the first criteria that I look at in roses. Who likes a rose when the blooms do not open fully & wilt on the stem.

Circus roses are are offered regularly at my flower shop, especially during the fall. They are beautiful on their own as you see here or look spectacular with other fall colored flowers. They also combine nicely with the bright colors of summer as well. Of all of the orange roses that I have used, I call Circus my favorite!

Circus Roses do not need any greenery or other flowers to shine. This is mass style arrangement of the roses accented by curly willow branches in a very unique shape vase. When you have your florist design in the mass style & cut the stems shorter, you will have a bouquet that will not only last much longer, your arrangement showcases the true beauty of the flowers bloom. Uncluttered by extra greenery & accent flowers. One of my favorite styles!
To ensure a longer vase life of your bouquet, change the water regularly & add the proper amount of floral preservative. This should be provided by your florist when you purchase your bouquet. If it is not offered, you should ask for it.

Let me know what you think about this rose & the information provided in this post. Is it something that you would be interested in learning more about in the future & did you find it interesting & beneficial.

Orange rose meaning:Desire, Enthusiasm, Passion, Energy & Celebration.

Gosh! I thought I left a comment on here yesterday. I must have closed the window before it went through.

Anyway, I would love to learn more about florist roses!

Ohmygosh, I adore that rose arrangement you did for the chiropractor's office - you are so talented!!!
I'll try to explain it - your arrangements are elegant but just enough outside the box that they really sing to an outside-the-box person like me!

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
