Christmas Wedding

There is nothing more beautiful than shades of red roses, amaryllis, & red berries nestled in winter greenery for a wedding at Christmas time. I wish you could see these in person...The reds are so deep & rich set against the deep green color of the winter greenery. The Black Bacarra rose petals look like lush velvet.
The photos do not do them justice.

Using Amaryllis was a challenge because of the girth of the stems. They came in about 3' tall & the stems at the widest point were about as big around as a quarter.
When you add to this all of the roses & greenery the entire bottom of the bouquet when finished, was about as big around as a softball. You must be very careful when tying the bouquet together because the stems of the amaryllis are hollow. Too much pressure will mash the stem in half.

If you would like a better look at the flowers, click the photos to enlarge.

Well I can assure you that of all that you mentioned ....the only thing she will have at her wedding today is.....SNOW!! This was a pretty simply wedding. There were many other ideas that would have been a lot of fun...but she had a very clear idea of what she wanted...so our hands were kinda tied.
Thanks Carrie for your kind words though!

Goodness me, I believe if I were to ever to be close to liking roses (to a passion), this my friend would take me there~ how utterly delightful!
I can see now the flowers your were Twittering about(on Twitter)...as you tried to "coax" them open.
What a happy bride she must have been, and how radiant she would have looked all dressed in white ...
Yes I agree with Carrie...a fantasy dreamland of wedding bliss!!!
Love your visions!

Well, Panz that was sweet of you to say...but I fear you would still have had me use sunflowers instead! LOL
And yes those were the stubborn amaryllis I was all a twitter about!
But well worth the wait....they were gorgeous!

Your Christmas bouquets are beautiful. I'm sure the wedding was lovely. I love the deep vibrant reds against the pine & cedar. You're creations are always gorgeous!

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
