~ Tablescape Tuesday ~ " Simple Elegance"

Today is Tablescape Tuesday hosted by Susan of, Between Naps on the Porch
visit this blog to see a complete list of participants. If you have not planned your tablescape for Christmas yet, then you need look no further. There are quite a few very talented & creative ladies here with beautiful ideas.

Deep Christmas red Amaryllis & mixed winter greenery combine together for a classic look in this dark pottery with a simple red velvet ribbon tied around it. I added some gold millimeter balls for a punch of color at the base nestled in the greenery.
My table runner is a mixture of solid green damask & holly printed napkins that overlap on the diagonal. I evenly turned under the other corners of the napkin to give the appearance of a table runner.

The Centerpiece of the table is a large scalloped pillar candle in layers of red in a glass vase surrounded by fresh cranberries. I set that in the center of a fresh balsam, pine & cedar wreath with 3 gold bows with gold millimeter balls glued in the center of each bow. On either side I have used 2 of my crystal sherbet glasses, I turned two deep red satin finished Christmas ornaments upside down. I love the velvet flourishes on the satin finish.

Each place setting is one of my white china plates with a printed paper plate on top. The crystal tea glass has a large candy cane tied with a piece of red mesh ribbon inside of it for each guest to either take home or use to stir a cup of cocoa after dinner. The crystal sherbet glass at each place has a fresh red rose floating in it. I tied a matching piece of the mesh ribbon around the stem of the glass to carry out the theme & add a bit of color to the crystal.

I love the simplicity of the setting, yet it still has an elegance about it.

As a finishing touch I tied a large red ornament to the bottom tip of the chandelier with gold ribbon to carry the color & the eye upward off the table.

Notes: The Amaryllis were actually designed to be used on a mantle. They were rented last weekend from my flower shop & used at the home of a Mary Kay consultant for her open house. They are artificial.....I know...they look real, HUH!!
The paper plates & the ornaments (last year) were purchased from TJMAXX...one of my favorite stores. They have the coolest things...always great finds! I buy a lot of containers in there for my flower shop. That way I have one of a kind items for special orders & ME!!

Wishing you all a very Blessed & Merry Christmas!
Tammy

You are right! There is something elegant about this simple setting. I love the way you brought the color up off of the table by hanging the ornament from the chandelier, oh, and amarylis is my favorite - so of course I'm loving that, too! Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!

Very elegant, and I like the tall stems and pretty colors! I also like the candy canes (I sometimes add them, too!), and all of your attention to detail. Good job!

Hello SIS :)
yes you can sit anywhere you choose lol :) over at my place! now, mmm.....where do i sit here?

i am pretty excited about it, because i am so loving the red! and i am enthralled with the up and down, melodic movement of the table...in regards to the flowers and then balancing that with the ornament drop! how cool!

and fresh cranberries, oh yes great idea....and the flowers are silk, awesome....just awesome! lol...and i have to comment on the candy canes, they are just so playful in the seriousness...lol!

i see you mixed paper and china, i need to be brave and do that...because i have seen lots of patterns out there, (to die for )and your table just looks smashing!

and you gave everyone a rose in their own sherbet glass? ah if only it could be a sunflower, but alas can a mere guest make such a request? lol

love ya much....and this is great Tam so festive and spirited!
Merry Christmas!!!

It's all beautiful, Tammy.
Thank you for visiting the Back Porch and your sweet comment.

About those botanicals. They have a story. Those are thrifty botanicals. Several years ago I bought a calendar of those prints. I put them away with the idea of using them in the dining room one day. I got that chance last summer, when we painted the dining room. I didn't want to pay for custom framing of pages from a calendar I had paid about $6 for. I looked at Michaels and found the frames with mats, for $5. Total cost of each framed botanical each, was somewhere around $5.50. It pleases me you noticed them and I thank you so much!

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for all of the lovely comments ladies!
And Preston & Cami...I love the bookcases as well!
Pat...I'm green with envy...I have several vintage botanicals (dating back to the 1840's) but they were NOT a bargain!! Still love them though.

My dear sweet Muse..Sis...You are always welcome at my table anytime & you know that when you come ...there wil be a sunflower at your special spot...regardless what other decor there might be. Love you much! xo

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
