Tablescape Tuesday ~ Newbie ~

This is my maiden voyage into the Tablescape Tuesday Showcase!
All components used in the making of this tablescape were brought home Monday evening from my flower shop in a box. Each piece was made using random bits & pieces of flowers & ornaments that were left over from other arrangements that I have made in the flower shop.
Vintage or new ornaments could be substituted for the millimeter balls. These were just what I had on hand at the shop. The ornaments at each place setting were also some left overs from the flower shop.
I love to take little bits of nothing, put it together & see what I can come up with.
Hope you enjoy my table.

I apologize for the lighting...the chandelier is the only light I have in the dining room & by the time I got home & set the table up it was completely dark outside.

The table is two layers of cream table cloths. One is a vintage damask & it is covered by a vintage lace. I used a small leftover piece of Christmas tree draping down the center in a pinkish copper color. The millimeter balls are placed in some of my husband's Grannie's crystal sherbet glasses.

This is the opposite end arranged with the same sherbet glasses & millimeter balls. The strings of crystal garlands are bits leftover from other arrangements.

The centerpiece of the tablescape is a topiary of sugared fruit ornaments stacked one upon the other on top of a candle stick. There is some random greenery & pieces of a burgundy hydrangea around the bottom.

The two other little arrangements are using the same components as the candle stick topiary. One is hydrangea with a sugared burgundy pear arranged in a gold ceramic pot. The other is a green sugared pear ornament arranged on top of hydrangea leaves.

The china is a combination of my cream & my gardenia pattern with gold edge intermixed. The crystal, the china & the flatware, (which is Dirilyte), were all inherited from my husbands Grannie.

What a creative person you are putting all those bits and pieces together. Lighting is always a challenge. I love your dining room space. Is that a built in cabinet? Merry Christmas!

Thanks...yes the cabinetry is custom built around a picture window. I designed it to fill in space that would otherwise be wasted. It also houses my collection of handpainted bowl, plates, etc.
Thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me your thoughts!

Tammy, I truly love that chandelier so no apologies needed!

The first thing I see is your towering centerpiece of sparkly fruit...How cool is that? OOOooo I do like that! How did you get them stacked? Are they glued?

I also like the idea of creating smaller versions of the larger centerpiece :)

The pattern on the china is so delicate...and you have allowed that to really play well into the design...The gardenias now seem to feel quite at home!
So these are your heritage pieces.

DO you have the entire set? How many does it serve?
What have been the most you have ever had in your dining room?

I agree with ellen b, love that cabinetry too!

Thanks Pat & Deb for you comments & for visiting my blog.

Yes, Muse the fruit ornaments are glued on top of one another.

Yes the china both sets are my husbands Grannie's the Gardenia set has place settings for 12 & the solid cream has place settings for 24 ...I gave half of them to his brother.
My table is also her's & stretches out to seat 12. I have had 12 there & seated more at the bar in the kitchen.
I have 13 coming this Christmas with another 5 that won't be able to come home from Oregon.

Thanks Gollum & Lynne for your kind words. I was not apologizing for the Chandelier..just for the fact that it doesnt throw off much light.
That light use to be a gaudy old gold color...I took it down, hung it in my garage & a couple of cans of spray paint later..Viola!
Now it is a bit Shabby Chic not so dated!

First I must thank all of you who took the time to visit my blog & leave me your thoughts...I appreciate it very much.

Yes, Kathleen, the stemware is an heirloom given to us by my husband's Grannie. I love them so much. I have a service for 12 minus 1 tea glass. But I am looking!

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
