My Christmas Mantle

This is the fire place in my living room. I have gotten this far with the decorations... now I know it needs something else, but what. I am asking for your opinions & ideas on what to use to finish my mantle. I do this for other clients all the time without hesitation, but I am bored with all of my ideas from years past. Looking for something inexpensive, new & fresh. Can be traditional or nontraditional.

I look forward to some wonderful ideas, so don't be shy. When I finish it I will repost with the new photo of the finished mantle.

Morning! Your mantle looks beautiful to me, but if you want a little more, why not poke some rather large Christmas balls amid your garland up on the mantle. Or if you have some angels or Santie things, or maybe pretty little wrapped Christmas boxes, scatter them on top of your mantle. These ideas aren't much, but I like to try my best to help! lol
Be a sweetie and I'll be looking forward to what you add to your display!

I feel that your garland is a little strong- a little too "forest" looking. I would bring up the piece that sits below the mantel and add it to the top. What is special to you? I grew up on a South Carolina island yet now live in the mountains. I use seashells in my mantel, along with candles. This year, I have 3 large hurricane globes, filled with cranberries. A cream candle sits above those. (Fill the cranberry area first with a clear glass so your candle can set level and also so you don't use too many crans.) On the ourside I wrapped a red satin ribbon around where the berries meet the candle and didn't tie a bow. It's just a smooth line, taped in the back. A few, larger, white shells nestle around the light and garland. Simple, but you wouln't believe the compliments I've received.
Other years I have plug in candlesticks instead of candles, faux magnolia blossoms, pinecones... Good luck!

I would put different sizes of candles with different heights. OR, just put your lovely family in front of it and take a picture. ;-)
OR, carnations, lots and lots of carnations.

I'm a bore when it comes to interior decorating! I am a minimalist so Christmas decorations become overwhelming. The mantle is very pretty and festive just as is!

I envision platters, plates and pitchers...all in varying heights (raised on platforms of lush evergreens...and each filled with arrangements themselves, added to the mantle shelf, And lights which give some vertical brightness.
The garland I would add more objects to ...perhaps, silver spoons, forks...and Christmas spheres, or photocopied family pics in mini frames :) xox
Loving the fp Tam... :)

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
