"Blue Monday" ~ Baby Shower Florals ~

Once again it is Blue Monday...as it turns out it is also the last of the year. So I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!
Have fun & be safe!!

For a list of all the participants of Blue Monday visit, Sally at: Smiling Sally

Today I'd like to show you examples of centerpiece designs using something other than common flowers such as: carnations, mums, daisies etc.

Here are a couple of centerpieces that were designed for a "Upscale" baby shower. I was told that their color scheme was blue, cream & brown, given the dimensions of each table, & told to do whatever I wanted. With that color scheme it is already nontraditional, I knew this would be fun.

My clients asked for centerpieces for a shower for a baby boy. They wanted an upscale look using unique flowers. They didn't want anything traditional, using common baby shower flowers.

I choose blue hydrangeas, cream lilies, cream roses, cream stock, seeded eucalyptus & added fresh sage that I tinted brownish copper. I then added curly willow, to give it a wild effect, that was also tinted brownish copper. I'm sure that the centerpiece was beautiful the day of the shower after the flowers had a chance to completely open.
This one was for a large dinning room table.

This was the coordinating piece that I designed for the kitchen table. Again I used a mass style of blue hydrangea and accented with the tinted sage & curly willow. This centerpiece needed to be much smaller to fit on a 60" round table.

I love blue hydrangeas. When I was a child, we had three huge bushes across the front of my home. Happy Blue Monday!

Beautiful arrangements! I love blue hydrangeas, they remind me of both of my grandmothers. They always had the most beautiful blue hydrangeas.

What a neat arrangement! Very unique. Hydrangeas are my favorite and with the additions like the curly willow and such - cool! Hope you had a Happy Blue Monday. I'm off to the TT post. See you there. ~ Robyn

The White Iris

The Iris danced across
the ancient Grecian skies. Gliding with her
embossed
satiny milken sides.

Her lithe and nimble limbs moved methodically...
From her cream white petals to her supple stem. The nectar that she carried was transposed into a hymn.

"I must use my moments wisely, for they shall soon pass away... And be lost to me forever... A mere memory of my yesterdays...

"Thus she sung
And thus she cried.
Her voice set to harp
And lyre. So true a call
So true a heart did Zeus himself see...

"Come now unto
Mt Olympus

Oh white Iris,
And our announcer be"...
She floated along
In such a curving grace...
Transposed she was
In time and space...

The blessed arched path
Which she did go,
Became the journey for
All our eternal rainbows.
